Important

Breathwork is not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical treatment. It is a complementary practice for self-regulation and personal development.

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork refers to the conscious manipulation of breath. In this workshop, a circular breathing technique is used โ€“ Conscious Connected Breathwork.

My sessions are a guided and supported self-exploration format. They do not serve as medical or psychotherapeutic treatment and cannot replace it. Participation is voluntary and can be stopped at any time by the participant.

Session Structure

1

Preparation

A session typically begins with a brief preparation phase where current feelings, personal experiences, uncertainties, or questions can be shared and answered. Then an intention (purpose or focus) is set for the subsequent active breathwork phase.

2

Active Breathwork (45 - 75 min)

This phase typically lasts 45 to 75 minutes and is supported by carefully selected music and possibly bodywork.

3

Integration

The final phase focuses on integration; it serves for sharing experiences together, if that is helpful for the individual.

Goals & Possible Effects

The workshop aims to:

  • Teach the Conscious Connected Breathwork breathing technique
  • Promote psychological wellbeing
  • Reduce stress
  • Support emotional processing
  • Strengthen self-confidence and self-awareness

This technique can lead to non-ordinary states of consciousness and work on psychological and physical levels.

During the session, various physical, emotional, cognitive, or spiritual experiences may occur, including temporary changes in consciousness.

Possible Temporary Side Effects

Temporary unwanted effects may also occur such as:

  • Tingling in arms, hands, or feet
  • Muscle cramps (tetany)
  • Mild dizziness
  • Dry mouth

Important: The intensity of the experience can vary individually and depends on mental state ("set") and environment ("setting") as well as the rhythm of the breathing technique.

Interventions & Bodywork

During breathwork, I use various interventions to support your process. I hold the space and guide you through the breathing.

Interventions may include:

  • Verbal instructions
  • Gentle touch (e.g., placing a hand on the belly)
  • Various forms of bodywork (e.g., releasing tension, offering resistance, shaking, grounding through pressure on the soles of the feet)

These interventions are used when they can support your process. Only body areas are touched where there is an indication that tension needs to be released or contact is needed.

Your boundaries are respected: You can always communicate verbally or non-verbally if a particular intervention is not desired or disturbs your process.
